Every place where you put people together, real or virtually will heat up emotions... emotions of different types, and I have to admit, I'm a big fan of lifting emotions up... It is very interesting to see how information is processed by these emotions... how information becomes more than that... how the power games, affinities, and positioning get into place. It is so much fun! A marketer recently apologized publically for his straight talking in Warriors. Often, the sum of the events in our lives leaves a mark of cynicism. Realistic, no BS talk, seems harsh and negative to many people. The marketer wanted to dispel any negativity that his words may have generated. Keeping true to his straight talking ways, he made a sincere apology, as it was never his intention to condescend. Negativity is bad for people on both sides of the conversation. The community is pretty much in favor of his method of communication. Most would rather have harsh truth rather than sweet lies. Another even offered this gem of wisdom…offer the newbies gentle truth, but with the more advanced take the gloves off… and let the harsh truth open their eyes. If it doesn’t, then it is not his problem. His responsibility ends there. Communicating on the web is sometimes difficult. The words on the screen lack the body language clues that people in face to face conversations use to judge the underlying intent—good or evil. Tough love advice may be the only thing that breaks the chain of making the same mistakes over and over or going from one poor choice of action to another. I love straight shooters... |
