| My nephew is five years old today. Not sure why… but I’m seeing it under a different light. I was looking at my sister; she is beautiful and radiant… with a light of her own. She says that motherhood has a lot to do with it… I don’t know. Her body never came completely back… she fixed the boobs… but her stomach keeps a lil curve just over the c-section. I asked why she didn’t get rid of that too… and she smiled… She calls it her “war scars”. No matter what, every time she looks at it, she remembers of the hours she spent trying to deliver an 11 pounds baby… how she found her strength… how she made decisions, how they finally did what was safe for the baby. She says that to remember makes her a better person, a wiser woman, a stronger warrior. It looks like some women find a different meaning for beauty once they dive deep enough in the mesh of creation… deep enough to bring life to this World. It looks like they know best… My hat goes out for them… |
