Internet Marketing is not a business for security seekers... it is an ever changing business where things don't stay still and what works today may not work tomorrow.
Is it all there is? Of course not! There are some things that are and should be anchors in the business. But those anchors are not activities but intentions. I know I lost you... I would have lost myself if I didn't know what comes next...
Bear with me, I'm blond... so I can't make it too complicated, can I? ;)
The anchor should be the ultimate goal and the limitations we set to ourselves to achieve that goal. The ultimate goal is a full bank account for some, fame and glory is what get others want... The limitations are not taken as a bad thing here, more of the moral we are shaped with. In each person, it is different, some don't even know themselves that much.
That said, let's cut to the chase... shall we? If you want to have your slice of this business, you need to be ready to take some things not so seriously. And be ready to do changes on the fly. Some things used to be important in the past and are not really important anymore under the new circumstances... maybe you know it, maybe you don't.
Traffic means NOTHING
Putting the accent in traffic alone doesn’t take you to Success. Not all traffic is made equal if you are looking for a specific response.
More traffic means more money only when you are paid for browsers. That was right for the adsense days. And that is the main reason it fell. We were directing browsers to the advertisers’ offers and they were losing money.
Right now, almost nobody pays per click (or they pay it very cheap), they pay per sale or leads. Why? Because all traffic is not made equal. To increase traffic will not increase conversions with the same rate. What does this mean?
If you double your traffic, you will not necessarily double your conversions. See the picture? It means that in proportion, for the same traffic you get smaller conversions… not a nice view…
Success and traffic
- Drive the “right” traffic to your page.
- Learn how to better monetize the traffic.
- Diversify how to generate income from that traffic.
Rankings means NOTHING
To be in first page of Google feels good… oh yeah… and it usually drives good traffic to your site. Will it translate in more money in your pocket? Not necessarily. It will depend on the intention of the searcher: what the searcher had in mind when clicking on that link.
The same happens with other media, to make it to first page in Digg for example brings tons of traffic, does it reward the effort? Not always. Most of the times, it will not.
Traffic and ranking are no longer directly related with success.
To be in the first page of Google, doesn’t matter anymore.
The only thing that matters is a full bank account.
Time means NOTHING
To work harder will not give you success, to work smarter and knowing the right people is what gives you money. Don't get me wrong... you will have to put some effort at the beginning, a lot of effort once you get to the second stage... but from there, you will reach a plateau.
After certain level, you will have to trade muscle for brains and start outsourcing, or you will get stuck and burnt. What level? More or less when you are doing 10K a month. For some, it happens far before that; others can go further when they have help around (family members, for example).
What do you think?
Do you think like me? Different? All this is a bunch of crap? You don't really care? Ok, go ahead! leave your message! I get really EXCITED when someone gets in CONTACT. ;)
Where all this came from?
I have been going through the material on Howie's last product: Traffic Holiday. More about it later.
